Never Rattled Academy

Never Rattled Academies will continue to bring elite college level instruction and organization to youth and middle school groups. Teaching through competition, our academies focus on improving lacrosse IQ while emphasizing the importance of team concepts on both sides of the ball.

Our Academies will be held each Thursday at the Boston Sports Institute [the brand new indoor facility in Wellesley] from 11/5 - 12/10 (skipping Thanksgiving). The time will depend on your age group.

FYL - 2021 Spring Registration Now Open

Dear FYL Families,

2020 has certainly been a trying year for all of us and we hope for better things as we approach 2021.  While planning for 2021 has been ongoing, it’s just too early to know at this time what State and Local Guidelines/Restrictions will be in place come Winter and Spring and whether those will prevent  us from being able to operate in normal capacity.

With that being said, we are opening our on-line Registration on October 24th.   While it is always important for FYL families to register their players early so that we can properly manage numbers, it is even more so this year, with so many uncertainties.  The FYL Board will likely have much less flexibility with team roster sizes and number of team entries in the MBYLL and FGLL leagues than in year’s past.

  • Online Registration is now open 10/24!   This year, we will once again be offering a $25 "early bird" discount for registrations received before November 30th    Click here       Registration Fees will be the same as last year with refunding options available due to cancelation of the 2021 Spring Season.
    • Following the MBYLL’s departure from US Lacrosse two years ago, the FGLL (Girl’s League) has followed suit.  This year instead of first registering with US lacrosse, girls will first register with FGLL (for insurance purposes) and then go to the FYL site and register there.
    • If you are one of the families’ who made the decision to roll over last year’s tuition refund to this year, please go ahead and register, but do not pay.  Then, please e-mail our registrar at so he can compare to our records and then manually apply the credit.  You still have to register with (and pay) the MBYLL and FGLL for insurance purposes.
      • Any registration questions can be directed to our Registrar at

  • Uniforms
    • We are continuing to work with Brine Sporting Goods with locations in Maynard and Concord for our uniforms, however, we are recommending that you hold off on ordering uniforms until we have a clearer picture of this ever changing landscape.
    • Returning players can plan on reusing last year's uniform!
    • Girls can choose between shorts OR skorts - whatever the player prefers!
    • Uniforms can be tried on at the store and ordered online
    • We are also hoping to facilitate a Uniform Swap for those who may have outgrown sizes (esp. for those who ordered last year, but never got to use).
      • If anyone is competent at Google Docs, Signup Genius, etc. who might be able to set this up, please reach out to a Board Member.

  • Indoor sessions:  At this time, we are not certain what our Indoor Schedule might be or even if we will hold Indoor sessions for 2021.  We will proceed with these decisions with an abundance of caution and wait until later this year for additional State/Local/League Guidance.  The safety of our players and families is of utmost importance.

  • Holiday Apparel Store: The Holiday Apparel store for FYL is live and will be open through 11/6 at which time it will close so that holiday orders can be processed in time.  (Hanukkah is early this year so we moved it up just a bit to make sure we have items back to those families in time).
  • We have added some new items this year including the ever popular face masks. Here is the link to the store for both apparel and uniforms:

We've also covered some "FAQs" on the individual team web pages - from our website, choose "Teams", then gender and grade for our tentative program outlines for 2021 season

We have grown over the years into a program which we are all proud. We have always made our program about community first and in this day and age, we feel this is necessary. We involve all of our families and welcome feedback to improve your experience.

Having said this, our program does not run without you. First of all, thank you to all that have volunteered in the past and continue to do so. Second, "YOU DON'T HAVE TO KNOW ABOUT LACROSSE TO BE INVOLVED!" Our coaches get trained. And we pay for it. We are hiring experts to devise practice plans, so none of us will show up empty handed. So please volunteer.   Many of our Board Members have children who have aged out of the program, so we are also looking for parents with younger children to get involved now 😊

Personally, I've been doing this for 17 years at every level. I love it more that my kids are no longer in the program. We have many coaches who do this, so I am not alone. But if we are willing to do this when our kids are out of the program, there is no reason you can't take on a small role as coach, team parent, event coordinator, etc... Even something as small as name and number cards for the parents.

I can't wait to see you all out on the fields as soon as it is safe, and as always, please call if you need anything.

Link to order uniforms

Uniforms are reusable for year to year.   Also, girls have the choice between "shorts" or "skorts" - totally up to the player/parent!

Kindergarteners do not have to have a uniform but we've found most kids are very happy to have at least a uniform pinney with room to grow.
