2010 Registration Policy

A player is not registered until the following is completed:
1) A US Lacrosse Registration form (or acceptable equivalent as designated by FYL) is completed and signed by Parent/Legal Guardian, and
2) The appropriate registration fee is paid in full (by cash or check).

Until the above is completed a player is not officially registered but may be placed on a waiting list (pending completion).

Priority for registration will be as follows: * Players are registered on a first come first served basis.

Once a team has reached its roster limit, the remaining registrants will be placed on a waiting list on a first come first served basis.

Roster Limits
FYL plans to field teams for Girls (U11, U13, and U15) and Boys (Developmental (U9), U11, U13, and U15) based on the availability of coaches, and interest of players. We expect to field a minimum of 16 players and a maximum of 22 players per team.

If for a given gender/age level there are enough registrants and coaches for multiple teams, FYL will field multiple teams. For teams where coaches have not been identified by the time of registration, FYL will inform the parents of the possibility that there may not be a team. If the parent wishes to be put on the waiting list, a registration form must be completed and the registration fee paid (checks will not be cashed until coaches are identified).

If by the roster deadline (some time in January) coaches have still not been identified, then checks will be returned (and cash refunded by check). FYL reserves the right to adjust roster sizes as and when needed.

Team Assignment:
FYL strives to create fair, enjoyable, balanced teams for all players and coaches. In some cases, players may need to be re-assigned at some point during the season in order to maintain the best interest of the players and the teams; such reassignments (if any) are made by the coaches using their best judgment.

Players will be assigned to teams based on their gender and grade as follows:
- Developmental (K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd graders with little or no lacrosse experience)
- U11 (2nd graders with lacrosse experience, 3rd and 4th graders)
- U13 (5th and 6th graders)
- U15 (7th and 8th graders)

If there are multiple teams at any level FYL will make team assignments based on the coaches’ assessment of the best interests of the players and the teams. Some of the factors that will be taken into consideration when making team assignments are:
- Previous lacrosse experience
- Maturity (physical, skill, emotional...)
- Logistics (e.g., the offspring of coaches are likely to be assigned to the coaches team; travel arrangements, etc.)
- Team balance

Late Registration
Any registration submitted after December 1, 2009 is considered a late registration. The decision whether or not to accept a late registration will be based on the following criteria:
- Whether or not there is room for the player at the player’s gender/level without negatively affecting the quality of the experience for the existing registered players.

Fees
FYL is a non-profit organization dependant completely on volunteers to accomplish its mission. FYL is funded by player registration fees, in-season fundraising (such as candy sales, calendar raffle, etc.) business sponsorships and donations from various members of the community. The registration fee is set each fall by the board of directors based on expected expenses and current fiscal reserves.

The registration fee for U11, U13 and U15 players is $165 per player. The fee for Boys U9 (developmental) players is $85 per player. There is a sibling discount of $25 for each additional sibling within a family that registers.

It is FYL’s goal to keep registration fees as low (and stable) as possible. Some of the activities and benefits that registration fees pay for:
- (Developmental, U11, U13, U15)
- Pre-season preparation (weekly or bi-weekly indoor practice, outdoor when feasible)
- Fields for practice and games (indoor facilities as appropriate)
- 8 – 12 games per year
- Jamborees
- Uniforms (jerseys and shorts)
- US Lacrosse membership and Insurance
- League affiliation dues (MBGLL, MBYLL)
- Referees
- Program equipment (such as goals, balls, goalie equipment, first aid kits…)
- Coaches education and certification programs
- Defrays the cost of the program outings (such as trips to college and professional lacrosse games).

Refunds
- Refund requests made prior to January 1st will be granted in full.
- Refund requests made after January 1st but before March 15th will result in a refund of the registration fee paid minus specific player expenses incurred or committed to by FYL (i.e. US Lacrosse registration fee and uniforms).
- Refunds made after March 15th cannot be granted.
